Tell us about your company culture.
Ron Petroff founded Petroff Law Offices in 2007 under the principles of loyalty, work ethic, big firm legal representation at a small firm price, and most of all a sense of corporate integrity. These principles still hold true and are representative of our company culture today. Our attorneys pride themselves on handling complex legal matters with sophistication and aptitude that lead to superior results. We believe that passion, honesty, and constant professional development lead to success for our firm and our clients. We remain very true to our roots-we are a family oriented business with attorneys and staff dedicated to helping one another succeed in work and life and treat the office as an extension of our homes.
What are three things you use every day in your job?
There are several items important to our daily success: This question reminds me of a famous quote by Abraham Lincoln: “A lawyer’s time and advice are his stock in trade” – The three things we use most are:
- Our minds
- The Court’s eFiling System
What trends/insights are you finding in your field/market?
An unfortunate trend is the desire for individual’s to purchase “shot gun” forms and motions from sites such as Legal Zoom, Nolo, and Rocketlawyer without understanding the local practice of a particular court. Ohio has 88 counties and each one has their own idiosyncrasies and local practice. These sites are typically state specific, not county specific, which causes people great stress when filing for divorce.
We believe that having patience is essential to success as a divorce attorney. People step into our office during their most vulnerable and difficult times. We must guide them both legally and emotionally through the divorce or child custody process. Patience and empathy are only learned through persona l life experiences. I suggest that burgeoning divorce attorneys really pay attention to when they are purchasing a house, starting a retirement plan, or having a child to the legal ramifications of all of these events and understand how they interplay with the advice he or she will give a potential client going through the same.
What benefit(s) attracted you to the Columbus Chamber?

Participating in an organization with such a wealth of information, resources, and a solid business membership will allow our firm to grow and keep serving Columbus in the best way possible. We are excited to partake in the various networking events and utilize the Chamber’s small business resources.
What business challenges keep you up at night?
Legal marketing and development has been a huge focus for our firm this year. In a society largely focused on content-driven web marketing, we are constantly working to put out quality content meaningful to potential clients and the legal community. Our staff works hard to ensure that our reputation for exceptional client satisfaction is properly represented in all aspects of our marketing strategy.

If you could choose any song to represent your company, what song would it be?
Goodbye My Lover, by James Blunt
What Columbus business person do you most admire?
I most admire Leo Ruberto, owner and president of Feazel Roofing – He has successfully led a revival of Feazel Roofing and has done so from the bottom up. His vision for economic growth and his penchant for risk taking is something I hope to emulate. I also appreciate his counsel and guidance through the years with developing my business. Leo has been a great client, neighbor, and friend.
