    Nominations Now Open for Columbus Chamber Business Summit Awards

    Awards will honor those who have achieved commercial success and contributed to the economic development of the Columbus Region

    Columbus, OH –The Columbus Chamber is now accepting nominations for its 2012 Business Summit Awards.

    “The Columbus Chamber has a long history of supporting and honoring outstanding businesses,” said Michael Dalby, president and CEO of the Columbus Chamber. “The Business Summit Awards allow us to recognize both individuals and businesses that are leading the thriving and contributing to our diverse and sustainable economy in the Columbus Region.”

    The Business Summit Awards recognize Columbus’ best and brightest leaders from small businesses—those with 500 or fewer employees. The award categories include:

    Adapt and Innovate – Through innovation--and with creativity--smart business leaders know how to move their business ahead in spite of economic obstacles and other challenges. Adapt & Innovate honors a business leader that, through product or service creation or restructured strategies and risk taking, has demonstrated marked growth in workforce and revenue.

    Diversity Leadership – honors a minority or woman-owned business leader that promotes an atmosphere of inclusion within its day-to-day business operations, and opportunities through business relationships and community involvement. The recipient provides inspiration to the future entrepreneurs of our region.

    Emerging Excellence – Those with the passion, drive and determination who choose to start a business definitely deserve to be recognized. With the Emerging Excellence recognition, we put a spotlight on the leadership of one of the region’s newest businesses that is finding success and gaining prominence in the marketplace.

    Young Professional Leadership – recognizes an outstanding young professional who is already making a positive impact within his or her talents and abilities. This up-and-coming business leader exhibits enthusiasm for their work as well as a desire to contribute to Central Ohio’s economic growth and community well-being.

    Nominations are will be accepted through July 26 at 5 p.m. and can be submitted online. Finalists will be announced in October, and recipients will be recognized at the 2012 Business Summit on Tuesday, November 13 at the Renaissance Columbus Downtown.  

    The goal of the Business Summit is to connect business executives to ideas and resources to help their businesses thrive, as well as recognize the success of top Columbus business leaders. New in 2012, the Business Summit continues the tradition of the Small Business Forum and Leader Awards and the Chamber’s long history of supporting and honoring the business community. The Columbus Chamber and its Small Business Council have recognized business leaders who have achieved commercial success and contributed to the economic development of the Region since 1984.

    In 2011, Small Business Leader Award recipients included Farah B. Majidzadeh, Resource International, Inc. (Diversity Leadership); Christopher Irion, e-Cycle LLC (EcoBusiness); Derek Grosso, Columbus Young Professionals Club, LLC (Young Professional Leadership); Kristen Harris & Catherine Lang-Cline, Portfolio Creative (Adapt & Innovate); and Jim Lane, GBQ Redbank Advisors (Emerging Excellence).

    The 2012 Columbus Chamber Business Summit is presented by Commerce National Bank with support from Anthem, CareWorks, Careworks Consultants, Inc., Integrys, State Auto Insurance Companies, the Blitz 99.7 FM and News Radio 103.9 FM and 920 AM.
