    Skilled Trades (formerly Applied Technologies) offers education in Construction Trades, Carpentry, Electrical Work, Plumbing, Welding, and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning). These courses are ideal for students who think they might be interested in a skilled trade, those interested in the growing field of facilities maintenance, or who wish to develop skills for their own personal enrichment.

    Electrical Trades Center of Central Ohio

    The Trades Center of Central Ohio provides quality education to individuals pursuing a career in the electrical field. The program implements both classroom and on the job training to supply students with the necessary knowledge and experience to be successful workers in their field.

    Related classroom training provides a strong foundation in safety, construction theory, electrical theory, codes and systems. This education provides the apprentice with skills and knowledge to have a working understanding of all electrical systems. With the many rapid advances in technology, this course work furnishes a firm footing toward comprehending and mastering the myriad new systems, equipment and apparatus that continues to challenge today's electrician. The curriculum is rigorous and based on a national award winning program developed by our National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee. The technical academic calendar begins in September and concludes in May, summers are available for extended studies.

    The B&I program provides loan guarantees for expansion and preservation of jobs in rural areas.  

    Who can apply? A borrower may be a cooperative organization, corporation, partnership, or other legal entity organized and operated on a profit or nonprofit basis

    Criteria: Business and industrial acquisitions when the loan will keep the business from closing, prevent the loss of employment opportunities, or provide expanded job opportunities; Business conversion, enlargement, repair, modernization, or development; Purchase and development of land, easements, rights-of-way, buildings, or facilities; Purchase of equipment, leasehold improvements, machinery, supplies, or inventory.

    Review and Approval: The total amount of agency loans to one borrower must not exceed $10 million. The administrator may, at the administrator discretion, grant an exception to the $10 million limit for loans of $25 million under certain circumstances. The Secretary may approve guaranteed loans in excess of $25 million, up to $40 million, for rural cooperative organizations that process value-added agricultural commodities.
